This interactive course will give the Infection Preventionist tools to use to ensure your Sterile Processing Department is in compliance with best evidence based practices. We will discuss the latest recommended practices from AAMI, AORN and the CDC sterilization monitoring, cleaning and disinfection, packaging, sterilization, traffic control, and sterile storage. The latest in flash (Immediate-use) sterilization multi-society position statement will be discussed. We will also identify controls on loaner instrumentation that should be in place to ensure instruments and implants are effectively managed and that patient safety, not physician preference or vendor convenience needs to be the main consideration.
