2024 December Virtual LTC-IP Essentials Training
Managing infection prevention and control (IPC) in long-term care settings presents a unique set of challenges and issues. This training provides the foundation of the role of the infection preventionist (IP) and the practice of being an effective IP in a long-term care setting, including creating and managing successful IPC programs and mitigating risk at your facility. This training also covers CMS required topics.
Learning Objectives:
Objective #1: Describe the responsibilities of an IP and the role in managing the IPC program.
Objective #2: Identify skilled nursing IPC requirements.
Objective #3: Identify how to assess IP competency.
Objective #4: Describe the role of surveillance in the IPC program and identify practical applications of recommended practices that can be utilized by the IP in their surveillance program.
Objective #5: Understand the basics of microbiology, multi-drug resistant organisms, clostridioides difficile and risk factors.
Objective #6: Understand and create a vaccination plan.
